This world—it’s cold and smelly.

Synopsis

Cats are quietly living in the attic of the Louvre Museum. For their own safety, the cats live in such a way that humans cannot find them. However, one white cat is so fascinated by the paintings that he shows up at the museum, even ignoring the cat’s rules. And he occasionally enters the paintings.

Review

It is like a cat story and it is not; it is like an art story and it is also not. The freehand drawings, including the frame lines of the panels, are warm and fit the world of the story. Although not as straightforward as “Ping Pong” or “Tekkon Kinkreet / Black & White,” this manga is a masterpiece that gives us a sense of Taiyo Matsumoto’s worldview. The world in the picture is a quiet and wonderful world where no one gets hurt. In contrast, this world is cold, smelly, and noisy. Still, we may choose to live in this world.
